Photo Contest Winner – Mickey vs. Shamu

My apologies to the SeaWorld people – all but one of these photos is from Disneyland or Disneyworld. It’s simply a matter of demographics – many of my readers live close to a Disney park. But! My post makes lots of them want to go to SeaWorld, so you win there.
A big fat thank you to everyone who commented and/or sent a picture. I loved receiving the photos and hearing your stories about your adventures. After a week, I collected all the pictures and sat with Kyle to review them. Even though he knows almost everyone pictured, he did not recognize one. person. So there’s no favoritism involved. Here’s what he had to say about each photo:

Heather and Lisa at Disneyworld. Kyle: “Lisa! Like Auntie Lisa!”

Zoe and Wyatt at Disneyland. Kyle: “What’s that lady?”


Kyle: “Mickey Mouse! I know that!”

Aunties Katie and Gina at Disneyland. Kyle: “What she’s wearing?”

Kyle: “Who’s that lady?”

Evan at Disneyland. Kyle: “That’s Santa! I like him.”

Kyra at Disney. Kyle: “That’s a baby!”

(incidentally, I was told that the title of this photo is “Where’s Mickey?” How cute is that?!)

Kyra’s brother Daniel at Disney. Kyle “There’s Mickey again!”

Atticus and Zane at Disneyland. Kyle: “That’s Goofy and Shaun and Lucas.”

(Shaun and Lucas are dark-skinned with black hair.)

Emma at Disneyland. Kyle: “Who’s that girl?” (See the recurring theme?)

Attalie at the Phoenix Zoo. Kyle: “Oh yeah, that’s giraffes.”

Elby, whom Kyle has seen 100 times, at Disneyland.

Me: “Who’s that, Kyle?” Kyle: “That’s Kayla.”

Kyle: “What’s that green lady?”

I went back through all the pictures and asked Kyle which one was his favorite. He very clearly and repeatedly picked the following:

Theo at Disneyland. Kyle: “I like that one. I want to do that someday.”

WINNER

So congratulations to Theo and his proud mama Noelle! They are the new owners of this fancy cookie jar. Here Kyle shows it off as he demonstrates the way Cookie Monster eats cookies.

    I seriously think Kyle is now a man, an uncle man. He’s gotten so much bigger just since he was here a few weeks ago! If I don’t see him in the next few weeks, I fear it’ll be time for his college graduation. Or, wedding!!!

    Very fun! Even though I didn’t win, thanks for posting my pic :) As a consolation prize, I’d happily take your beadboard cupboards (I LOVE beadboard!) and blue tile back splash – very nice!
