Busy Body Book

busy body coverI could change the name of this category to “Swag I Use,” because as I’ve mentioned, I get tons of swag, not even as much as other bloggers.  There are piles and piles of it to go through periodically.  Last night I made a list of the things I could think of, off the top of my head, that I actually use or intend to use.  The very first item is The Busy Body Book.

I believe I got this book in the goodie bag from the late SV Moms Group party at the Ritz a few months ago.  It’s a simple paper calendar/notebook that is organized with five blank columns of blocks for each day of the week on one page.  I use mine for the different blogs to which I contribute, including this one.  And guess what was in today’s block for HOP?  Swag of the Day.  See how that works?

I would never have purchased this book for the retail price of $17.95 (and because the name makes it sound like a children’s lift-the-flap-book).  After all, I’m an electronics gal.  I haven’t used a paper planner in years.  I do have a paper wall calendar (scenes of the University of Notre Dame) out of habit, and to quickly reference dates, and in a vain attempt to get Stewart to pay attention to things like planning, scheduling, and birthdays.  But for my schedule and appointments and upcoming events everything is on my Google calendar.

When I got this book in my swag bag, I almost gave it away.  But then I started scribbling blog ideas and dates in the columns and lo and behold, now I have an editorial calendar.  At year’s, I’ll buy a replacement.  That’s the power of a swag bag.

  1. Very cool. I go back and forth between paper and electronic, too. My schedule stays electronic, but “to do’s” stay on paper. Don’t ask me why.

I too can’t make up my mind; I use Google calendar, especially since it syncs with my Droid phone, but when I get really busy nothing makes me feel as organized as my old day runner.

  3. we use big wall calendars on our offices, big wall calendars are easier to read ‘,`
