Things I Haven’t Said

Yeah, yeah, there are pictures to post and videos to upload, but there’s no time for that, Mulder! I must write the following thoughts before they are gone, and when I finish, I will be spent. Come back another day for irresistible pictures of my children, please.

1. What is the point of the Democratic National Convention? Or the Republican one, for that matter? In ANY year? From where I sit, these are big, expensive parties, giant pains for the cities that host them, and don’t seem to serve any real purpose. If you’re going to tell us who’s running for President, and then you’re going to simply announce your running mate in a press conference, and if, as it seems to me, my vote doesn’t really count because of your Byzantine delegate system, then why not spend this money on something useful? But opening that door, I bring up the question of political spending and its many failures, and I risk passing out from the brain explosion.

2. If you are a young male of the wrongly-hued skin or shirt or pants or baseball hat, what is the correct answer to the question “Where you from?” Is there a way that the 16-year-old football player shot outside a Taco Bell last weekend could have avoided death after that question was posed?

3. Thank you, Sabrina Johnson, for your comment today. And thank you to all who have ever commented here, even my questionable troll. Sometimes I feel like nobody is reading, and even when I do snag some readers they comment on the trivial, not the meaty. Eat, Pray, Love is meaty indeed, and it brought you out of your lurking shadows, and your comment brought joy to this blogger.

Having said that, I am turning this into one of those “no one cares what you ate for lunch” posts by saying goodnight. I’m off to bed. Or to a few episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8 until I fall asleep.
