I Wasn’t Kidding About the Duck

August 21, 2008 Kim Tracy Prince 4 Comments

We are in northwest Connecticut, in an area called The Farmington Valley. (Valley dwellers, unite!) It is The Country out here, people. Where they grow corn and listen to bluegrass and some towns are population 1,000. And they keep ducks as pets.

This is my sister’s sister-in-law with her duck O’Mallie.

This is her cockatoo, Miranda. Miranda can talk, and she took a liking to me. She sidled up my arm to my shoulder and made very strange noises in my ear, and nuzzled my cheek with her head. Behind my smile I am thinking “Please don’t poop down my back.”

This is where we went shopping.

And this is my sister, the mom. She’s a natural.

It looks beautiful! And a whole other world than where you live in Calif!

My stepdaughter has a cat named O’Malley. Wonder what she and her duck namesake would think of each other? (Probably nothing good.)
I grew up in southwestern Connecticut. In Connecticut distances, it probably wasn’t far from where you are now.

What is that in the middle of the Valley in your first pic?

Ohh! Look at your sister with her baby! And please, I wonder: how does one end up with a pet duck?
