…or is it?
How long have I been shilling for this blog and others that I write? Almost five years. Any time someone wants to interview me or have me talk on a panel or have me write something for their website, the answer is yes. I’m an attention hog. Okay, I admit it.
The truth about mommyblogging is that the actual work of it is done at home, by yourself if you’re lucky, or with children grabbing at you and saying “Mom! Mom! Come look at this!” and “WAAAH!” if you’re not. We blog when we can in fits and starts, or again if we’re lucky, in marathon stints.
When I actually have time to sit and think about a post, I procrastinate like nobody’s business. It could be email, or Twitter, or fussing with video chatting, or the wacky gadget I discovered today, Robo.to. (I think I wasted 15 minutes just getting this awful video just right.)
But like the good movie says, “You can’t rush art.” I don’t have the power to sit down and immediately be creative. Sometimes an inspiration will hit me at a weird moment, and everyone watch out while I beat a path to my computer to write it out. But mostly, I sit and stew and fester until the words and paragraphs are arranged perfectly, and I hit “publish.”
This post was written under duress. There is a camera taping every move I make right now. It’s a high-def camera, meaning my wrinkles and gray hair will show up just like Simon Cowell’s on “American Idol.” Have you noticed that? We still have a CRT television, a huge monstrosity that happily masks imperfections in people’s skin and hair. When I watched “AI” at a friend’s house, her super HD big screen fanciness made Simon look 10 years older than I thought he was, and red and puffy too. Let’s not even talk about what HD does to poor Paula Abdul. I have no problem making fun of all these people and now look who’s in the hot seat.

Wow. Pretty good for posting under duress!
What? What? Oh, I saw the Car and Caboodle article. Nice vehicle! When do we get to see “the rest of the camping trip?”
So WHO is taping you???? I think I missed something…
