Four: the Age of Why

April 18, 2011 Kim Tracy Prince Leave a Comment

INT. Prince home.  8AM.  Family scurrying around to get out the door on time.

MOM:  Brady, get your shoes on.

BRADY:  Why?

MOM:  Because we’re leaving for school.

BRADY:  Why?

MOM:  Because you go to school on Tuesdays.

BRADY:  It’s a school day?

MOM:  Yes.

BRADY:  Why?

MOM:  Because that’s just how it works.

BRADY:  But, why?

MOM:  Because you have to learn.

BRADY:  I don’t want to go to school.  I hate school!

CUT TO:

EXT. School.  3PM.  MOM walks up to the playground.  BRADY sees her.

BRADY:  NO!  I don’t want to go home!

MOM:  Come on Brady, we have to go.

BRADY:  But, WHY?!
