Up All Night

May 25, 2006 Kim Tracy Prince 7 Comments

Last night I woke Kyle up, by accident, at about 10:30 PM. He wouldn’t go back to sleep, so I brought him into bed with us. Well, as my friend Chris calls it, what happens next was like midget wrestling. Finally around 11PM I put him back in his crib and he didn’t even complain. Whew!

He woke up because Stew and I were all jacked up on American Idol. Thus begins my review. (I tried hard to make this post have SOMETHING to do with Kyle.)

These are my thoughts in no particular order:

-Toni Braxton: On crack? A female impersonator? Drunk? SOMETHING had to be up with her. SERIOUSLY.
-Free Mustangs for Kat and Taylor: Okay, Taylor I get. He was probably pretty psyched to get a free car. But Katharine? She was all, “Thanks, but I already have a Land Rover? That my parents gave me? Um, I live in SHERMAN OAKS.” They even cut to her parents in the audience who were like “A Mustang? WhatEVER.”
-Chris with Live: BEST THING EVER. I actually shed tears of joy for him. I didn’t know the song, but I love Live, and I knew that it was Chris’ favorite band ever. I was like if I got to sing with Indigo Girls, or Stew got to sing with Johnny Cash.
-The results: Eh. Who cares who wins at this point? If it’s not Chris, does it really matter? Also, I definitely felt emotion from Taylor, but it was nothing like when Kelly Clarkson won and she cried through the whole finale song.
-The finale song: made me want to vomit.
-Puck and Pickler: Hilarious. As much as I was not a fan of Kelly Pickler, I think this girl would make a hilarious reality show. I’m sure it’s probably in the works.
-The Shania Twain up with women number: AWESOME.
-The Cowboys: Excellent. They were so good!
-The Golden Idol Awards: In general, I thought these segments were mean-spirited and pandering. But I did like the Clay Aiken lookalike getting to sing on the stage. I also loved his reaction to seeing Clay come out on stage, even thought THEY TURNED OFF HIS MIKE. Clay Aiken though – creepy looking. Yikes. YOU’RE TOO YOUNG TO DRESS LIKE BARRY MANILOW. AND ROD STEWART’S HAIR IS BLONDE, NOT BLACK. If you’re gonna do it, Clay, do it right. The funniest part of that whole number was that Stewart was like “who is THAT guy? He’s good!”
-I still think my little sister or my cousin Jason would have been great on American Idol, if they ever got to audition.

And a bonus TV note for today:
-Yesterday on my way to work I saw this giant billboard: “OPRAH GOES TO AUSCHWITZ. Wed 3pm.” Sick children’s book, anyone?

Interestingly, that Oprah episode inspired this week’s Stuff Portrait Friday at RandomAndOdd.

YAY! I was waiting for this! I agree with everything you said…I loved the women’s song, I thought Chris was AWESOME and yes, he so should have won! Kelly Pickler–still can’t decide if I like the short hair or not but she is hysterical…. the finale song was AWFUL-for both of them! Ugh, who WROTE those!?! McPhee is going places, it didn’t matter if she won or not….
