Last weekend my friends Lisa and Katie threw me a baby shower at Lisa’s beautiful house under the bridge. Unlike my bridal shower, at which I had to keep reminding myself “hey, it’s my bridal shower!” I was perfectly prepared to be the guest of honor at my baby shower. I am still amazed that I am pregnant, but for some reason my baby shower seemed inevitable and meant to be.
I recall feeling relaxed and ready when guests started to arrive. I must attribute this feeling to the short nap I took upstairs in Lisa’s office while my friends, mother, and aunt ran around getting everything arranged. After dozing for about 20 minutes I changed my clothes, touched up my hair, and actually put on makeup. At precisely 3pm I descended the stairwell to my party. I was SO the guest of honor.
The shower was an ultra-girly traditional afternoon tea. Lisa and Katie made all the food themselves – scones, cucumber sandwiches, prosciutto-wrapped melon, and so on. There was a tea cart and a silver tea service and beautiful flowers everywhere. It was perfect.
And the booty – oh, baby Prince will enjoy the booty, I am sure. At least his mama will enjoy dressing him up in the booty. My fantastic and generous friends and family did most of my shopping for me, and now I am not so stressed out about getting all of the Baby Stuff I so dread obtaining.
Of course I want to put it all away in the nursery RIGHT NOW, but since our house is still in a state of upheaval (today there are no less than 5 workmen replacing our heating and air-conditioning system – I hear them up in the attic, stomping around like giant rats) I must wait at least another week. I have 6 weeks left of pregnancy based on my due date. That puts it into perspective, folks. It’s almost over, and I’m really just beginning to enjoy it.

Yay! I’m so glad you had a good time. I’m so excited for you. You looked amazing at the shower, such a happy mama. It’s only the beginning, KTP. 🙂
