This Might Make My Father and Grandparents Uncomfortable

Brady is sleeping right now – only half-swaddled. I know I don’t report on his progress very much, because, haha, 2 kids! But I was really proud that I got him to fall asleep without tying him up in his baby straitjacket first.

We have been very busy here at the House of Prince during the last week or so. There was that roadtrip to Lake Arrowhead for the 4th, then the aftermath of the roadtrip (laundry, getting kids back on some sort of schedule, etc.). The weekend brought playdates and even our attendance at a big lesbian party! Yay!

Yes, I said lesbian party. The point is that everyone there besides us and one other woman was a lesbian. As a heterosexual couple with two boys, we stood out just a bit. Plus, the party was at a house up in the hills of Eagle Rock that is seriously right out of a home design magazine. White leather couch. Super fancy hardwood floors. Fancy fanciness everywhere. Perfect place for a toddler with chocolate on his hands to run around and create havoc.

Also, for me to get hit on by women. All of my friends told me how great I look, which could have been a lie but I didn’t care. I hadn’t seen them in a very long time, and being around them made me feel a little bit like the person I am, instead of just the mother.

The first thing I did when we got there was nurse Brady, in a retro-modern armchair in a shady corner of the patio. When I was finished, I changed his diaper on a bench. As I was dressing him, a woman I had just met came over to chat. She remarked that Brady was a big baby.

I said “Yes, I make magic milk.”

“I saw you making that magic milk!” she said. “And I thought, ‘Mmm! I’m next!'”

And just like that, mama got her mojo back.
