Stay With Me

September 20, 2010 Kim Tracy Prince 3 Comments

On Brady’s first day of preschool, I walked with him into the play yard and allowed him to clutch my hand, hide behind my leg, and cling to me in the sandbox. He rarely clings to me, and although I wanted him to run and play and acclimate, I secretly enjoyed it. I expected him to have a brief time of trepidation when confronted with a new location, teachers, and classmates, but I was surprised at how vehement his objections were.

“Stay with me, Mommy!” he ordered, when I moved to walk back toward the teacher and leave him with the children in the little playhouse. “Don’t go yet.”

That’s what I want to say to him, with a slight tweak. Stay with me, baby. Don’t grow yet.

Totally, totally, totally get it!! My heart is saying it every day. Ok not on the days when I’m getting the pre-teen whining or the teenaged silent treatment, but on most of the other days.

    Enjoy your now!

And how fun to meet one of the original mommy bloggers. Thanks for paving the way. : )
