Getting By With a Little Help From My Blogs

February 29, 2008 Kim Tracy Prince 6 Comments

Okay here I am about to make some random observations about blogging even though I haven’t made a real post in days. Sometimes I just can’t force it, you know? Thank goodness I have cute kids, because a photo of them is better than a crappy post.

My buddy LA Daddy was walking me through some bloggy techno-stuff the other night and it came to my attention, even though I wasn’t thinking of switching my URL, that houseofprince.com is already taken!!! By some loser who isn’t even using it! If it’s you, don’t even think about trying to extort money from me to get it. Blogger is still free so I’m here for now.
My other buddy, Stefanie, just posted something about the politics of blogging. In summary, she raises the issue of commenters vs. commentees, emailing a blogger and not hearing back from her, etc. It’s funny that she put that out there recently because I have been going through that recurring period of second-guessing of my own blog, namely, is this thing on? Rest assured that I read all of my comment (singular intented) and I hang on your every word. When I get a comment from a fellow blogger I’ve never seen before, it always makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Plus, comments are the only way I ever hear from Suzanne.
Speaking of my buddies, I updated my blogroll to your left. I added Rattling the Kettle, Child’s Play, Pretty Industries which isn’t technically a blog but it’s a new online store created by one of my favorite former bloggers, By Jane, and MY MOM’S BLOG which if you missed that gem please go visit her and give her some comment love and even link to her if you will. She created the blog at my behest and is now posting photos and commentary about the many beautiful quilts she makes. Yeah, my mom, she’s a quilter.
Lastly, I leave you with a photo diary of our family trip to Big Sur with Suburbia at Large, Fabulous Husband, and the ever sparkly Miss Zoe.

Kyle sings “On the Road Again” during the drive up. Or maybe it was “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”

The happy reunion. They haven’t seen each other in a year, or approximately 1/3 of their lives ago.

Suited up for our hike. Don’t worry about Stewart. I eventually wound up carrying Kyle.

Kyle and Zoe in one of many “treehouses.”

Kyle and Zoe admire the waterfall.

Banana Slug!!!

The moody beauty of the Big Sur coast.

Fab, the King of Google (no, he doesn’t work there).

S@L and her mini-me, Zoe.

Zoe is a bad influence on Kyle. If you look closely, you can see on Kyle’s hand that she shared her “temporary” tattoos with him. It wasn’t long until they were in bed together…

It looks like they’re playing video games but they are watching Little Einsteins. “We’re just studying, Mom, I swear!”

Brady is ready for the ride home. Grampa calls this “squishy face.”

Hey, I still love you. I just get into lurking mode and forget to comment sometimes. I had to look at your blogroll to make sure I was still on it, though. I’m insecure like that. Always have been. People must like me!

Looks like the kids had a great time. Gee, is there a future for Kyle and Zoe? And thanks for the plug on my blog.

    Thanks for the add.
I always respond to comments. It’s only polite. OTOH, Stefanie complaining about Dooce not writing her back is kind of like my wife complaining about how Barack Obama doesn’t have a crush back on her. 😉

I’m a fan of the picture post myself. I figure they’ll only be cute for awhile and then I need to get some material.

One dedicated reader up here in Boston accounted for! I agree though – the less comments one gets the more you’re all “Hmm. Did I say something terribly offensive and not realize it?”
I love your photo essays too. The Big Sur trip looks fantastic. (And as always, proud to see Kyle sportin’ the BoSox hat.)

Hi! OMG thank you for posting these photos. You are such a great blogger; you’re good at all of it – the posting, the comments, and posting lots of photos, too.
I love these photos, and we had such a great time on our trip. Thank you for not posting any of the “humming” photos.
