Yesterday at Maddie’s funeral, her family members gave moving speeches about her. Her mother, Heather Spohr, stood in front of hundreds of people and told us funny and touching stories about her little girl, and celebrated the fact that Madeline had made her a mother, and told us how grateful she was for the 17 months of her daughter’s life. Not once did she sound bitter or angry.
Thank you, Heather, for reminding me that I have so much to celebrate.

On a sadder note, Maddie’s family’s grief is unimaginable. I think about her daily lately. Was her death related to prior health issues? Prayers of healing and gratitude all around…
