Today is the twenty-second day of the April A to Z Challenge. During this month I will be writing blog posts every day (with breaks on Sundays) about the topic “Sh*t I Say” starting with each consecutive letter of the alphabet. This is one crazy project, y’all.
I’m drunk at Vogue.
Okay, yes. I’m totally stretching here. Not only is this thing I say not actually a thing that only I say, but also, the letter of the day is not the first letter of the phrase.
I will not proclaim this is a fail, however. In Sex and the City, Carrie gets a freelance assignment for Vogue. She goes in for a meeting to discuss her article, and finds that the editor hated it. She has a few drinks with another editor, and gets drunk.
“Yeah, Cookie’s drunk. I’m drunk at Vogue.” [3:32 in the clip above]
It is simply awesome.
Ever since I saw this scene, I have been using “I’m drunk at Vogue” for no particular reason. Mostly when I’m drunk. There may even be witnesses who read this blog. I would love for you to comment if you have heard me do this.
And for the record, I’m on a press trip in Hawaii right now, which has made it really hard to post these articles on time. Or think of things I say that go with the letter of the day. The second best choice for the letter V was a toss up between Vuck and Mothervucker, which aren’t even words, and I don’t actually ever say them.
This one was tough. Very.
For what it’s worth I produced a show about Sarah Jessica Parker for E! and while I did not interview SJP herself, I did interview the lovely man who co-starred with her in this scene. I even managed to hide my fangirl love of this scene from him.
So there.

I haven’t had the pleasure of getting drunk with you yet, but I look forward to it someday soon.
In other news, I named Brady after Brady in Sex in the City. For serious.
I love knowing that!
My Brady was named because of Brady Quinn. Not *after* him, exactly, but because of him.
I always come back to a Carrie Bradshaw line as well. It was the episode where she was dating a younger guy who still lived at home. I think the scene was when they meet up on the street and he was riding a scooter. He asked her if she would like to try. While pushing herself along the streets of NY on a scooter, she says. “Scootin in heels.”
I say it as such random times, but it makes me smile. Love any an all Sex and the City references. Nice job.
