The official Prince family 2007 holiday greeting card photo:
Hello everybody. It’s been so hard to catch up with life these days. I’ve been dragging myself through each day, sucking it up enough to meet the most basic obligations, like feeding my children, wiping their butts (not something you can put off until tomorrow), attending the functions I committed to, and going to the post office on the busiest day of the year. I am such a post office pro at this point that it wasn’t a big deal. I used the automated shipping machine and drop box. The only problem was that the drop box was filling up every 20 minutes and I had 6 packages of various sizes, so I had to hang out until the postman came to empty the bin. Meanwhile, I was helpfully guiding other customers to the right places. I should have been on their payroll.
Our Christmas cards went out weeks ago, so I am hereby publishing our Christmas photo as a blog Christmas card to all of you who did not get hard copies. A bonus for you is that I am posting the ones that are on the cutting room floor, so to speak, because even though I am a photo perfectionist, even I can’t resist the charm of the shots that didn’t work. Behold:
The Official Prince Family 2007 Holiday Card Photo Shoot Outtakes
Setting up the shot. This is becoming a holiday tradition. I set up the shot with the camera on a tripod, using my parents as stand-ins, and when I am satisfied I have my mother press the shutter button while my father stands behind her making funny faces for the kid(s). Next year I’ll try to snap a shot of them in action behind the lens.
You’ll notice that we shot this in our back yard this year. Last year we went to the beach. Well, that was pre-2-kids. Now everything is so much harder. I guess the true behind-the-scenes shot would show that I am not wearing pants.
For the first set, I wore my glasses, which is a more accurate representation of what I look like in real life. I never wear my contacts any more because they are such a PITA. These are cute but of course one can never get all four people looking at the camera with proper facial expressions.
Then for the second set I decided I look so much hotter like this:
Of course the baby was starting to lose it so the stakes were high. But doesn’t he look adorable? I usually wind up coordinating the shot around a single piece of clothing. I thought this year it would be a new shirt that Elena gave me for my birthday which is a light green, but then our neighbor Ruth gave this little blue and white sweater to Brady as a christening gift, and I was on the hunt for coordinating blue clothing for the rest of the family.
We took a total of 38 frames to get it right. But the discards are precious, wouldn’t you say?

Yes, they are precious- and a more accurate representation of reality.
Much better than a hard copy…although that I could hang by my chimney with care…
Oh my goodness. I love these!
You all look great – even in the outtakes. Blue was a good color to coordinate with.
Merry Christmas HOP!
the outtakes are always the best.
Can I say you guys are so in the Christmas Card colors. I swear almost every Christmas Card I photographed or received the family was in shades of blue!
All the pictures are great. Hope to see you all soon
Love you
Very nice. Merry Xmas!
Those are AWESOME…outtakes are my favourites! 🙂 Kyle may be giving you some trouble, but he certainly looks angelic, and Brady is gorgeous too!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
