This is a picture of me and Kyle escaping the heat of the valley in summer 2006. We’re in Santa Monica – you can see the pier in the background. I unearthed this photo when I was poking around in my archives for pictures of the beach to put in my first post for Uptake – the new most popular travel search website. I just got hired to write for the vacation blog and my territory is Los Angeles.
It happened with a whimper, not a bang. A few days after I signed my contract, I remembered that for years I’ve been dreaming of becoming a travel writer. I used to write long descriptions of my trips and email them to everyone in my address book, whether or not they wanted to read them. The discovery of blogging gave way to posts like this and this. Some things are made better because of the possibility of blogging about them.
I guess it’s time to think of “blogging” as “writing.” Because I’ll be writing about travel, and someone will pay me. Dream come true. Follow me, won’t you? And if you are going somewhere, look it up on Uptake. You never know what you’ll find.
