Kyle and I have been in snowy CT since Monday night. Here are some things that have happened this week:
-Kyle behaved very well on his second cross-country trip. He entertained passengers while they were waiting in line for the head. We were sitting in the very last row of the plane, right in front of it. Lovely.
-I visited my Grampa in the hospital three times. He is on the mend, I am happy to say, but still very far from all better. It is difficult, but I am glad I came when I did.
-Kyle is mastering the sport of crawling. My mother tells me that once he figures out how to sit up from the crawling position, then the fun truly begins. Kyle has done this twice, but I don’t think he knows how he did it. Let’s not tell him.
-We got a crapload of snow Friday morning, so I suited Kyle up and brought him outside and dumped him in the snow in the backyard. At first he was not happy, but once I showed him how much fun snow is, he at least smiled for the camera. Yes, I will post that picture, but it’s downstairs. How inconvenient it is, to be staying in a 3-story colonial!
-Visiting KP and her babes, Kyle was given the opportunity to be the older kid for a little while. Little K is 5.5 months old, and does very well on her tummy, but can’t yet crawl. Kyle enjoyed being able to crawl around and grab her and smack her, the way the older kids at home used to do to him! But then A, who is 3, woke up from his name and steamrolled through the play area, putting Kyle right back in his little-kid place.
-Speaking of steamrolling, their dog Bromley, an English mastiff, was so excited to see us that he ran into the play area, knocking Kyle over and almost trampling little K. Kyle was not happy, but at least he was not hurt.
-Speaking of hurt, with mobility comes danger. There have been more than a few head bumps, face plants, and finger pinches this week. Kyle is an intrepid little explorer, but he’s learning that it’s not always comfortable!
-Meanwhile, Mama is exhausted, and observes that the day goes by MUCH FASTER when you must keep your eye on your child at EVERY MOMENT.

Glad you made it safely to the east coast. It snowed a crap load here on friday as well.
Have a great visit!

Exhausting, yes, but exhilarating too! Our little boys are becoming independent! Oh, wait, that’s not exhilarating, it’s SAD. So many emotions at once. Even though I’m tired of the midnight feedings, I LOVE them because he still seems like a cuddly, needy little baby then. Is that twisted or what?

You called the bathroom the head. You are so funny… I miss you, I can’t wait to see you and Kyle when you get back. Glad you’re having fun! Sending good thoughts for your grandfather…
