Sh*t I Say: “GAH!”

April 7, 2012 Kim Tracy Prince 1 Comment

Today is the seventh day of the April A to Z Challenge.  During this month I will be writing blog posts every day (with breaks on Sundays) about the topic “Sh*t I Say” starting with each consecutive letter of the alphabet.  This is one crazy project, y’all.

Today I am traveling from Hartford to Chicago so please bear with me!

GAH!

This word isn’t something I say so much as something I write. There are certain phrases or words or non-words, even, that have been borne of the blogging and social media culture, and obviously of the texting movement, that have become part of our everyday vernacular. OMG, for example. LOL. WTF. I use all of those acronyms, although I like to think that I use LOL ironically. “GAH!” is only that I simply love, because it can be used positively or negatively as in “GAH! I just won the lottery!” or “GAH! I just got to the airport and the security line is full of slow, dumb people!” I never say “GAH!” out loud, though. I just think it here in my head, as I am know prone to thinking in text speak or HTML sometimes. It’s a curse.

Today I have an additional Sh*t I Say item, because G cannot pass without me including the Kim Tracy Prince special:

Goddammit!

Yes, this is the one curse I cannot seem to shake. My kids definitely learned to say this one early, although now they do understand that this is not something they should be saying. I have managed to keep it in check unless I am really, really pissed off. Stewart might say that I am often really, really pissed off, but I would argue that that’s simply not true. Goddammit.

Hi there, found you over at Comment Blogger and look! I found an original Mommy Blogger! How cool is that? 🙂
I like Gah! And you are right–it works as a positive or negative expression so I think I might start using it. One word I use (doesn’t start with G) that’s a little weird is: ieegoo! It’s actually because I lived in Korea for a year and it’s a Korean expression basically meaning “Oh no!”
