A Thousand Words

June 3, 2006 Kim Tracy Prince 3 Comments

There are many good things about Kyle’s daycare situation. It’s close to home, it’s in a safe area in a loving family’s house. The babysitter, I will call her Mrs. A, is very sweet and Kyle always comes home in a good mood. He seems to be eating well and sleeping well which are two things that strike me as being hard to master for a child in a new situation.

The first thing I noticed when I visited the house was the FABULOUS playroom Mrs. A had set up for the kids. The second thing I noticed was how clean her house was. And the third thing I noticed was a tie: the absence of farm animals and three-legged dogs, and the presence of her wizened old mother in law. Those are all good things. For three weeks Kyle has been spending more of his awake time there than here at home, and that fact troubles me, but it cannot be avoided. At least, I tell myself, he is having fun and learning. In fact, he is apparently learning Armenian, because he will clap on command, but only if you say “clap” in Armenian. Of course, Stewart did not remember how to pronounce it, so I will have to find that out on Monday.

Yesterday when I dropped Kyle off Mrs. A presented me with a CD full of pictures and video that she had taken of Kyle since he started coming there. Since there is no way to force Kyle to smile and look happy, I know that the joy on his face is real. It makes me feel even better and lucky that we found Mrs. A.

What a nice thing for Mrs. A to do!!! Kyle looks happy, and that’s what counts. I see he’s keeping his hat on too!

What a blessing in the midst of a gut-wrenching decision! I’m sure that makes you feel better at work, knowing Kyle is being taken care of well.
And I wish someone would teach Luke to leave on his hat! He figured out that little velcro strap about 2 milliseconds after I put it on.

I’m glad everything worked out with the daycare. And I need that hat!
