Saturday night, after Notre Dame’s terribly depressing loss to Navy (but who’s kidding? We weren’t exactly surprised) I had to get Kyle out of the house because he’d been shut in all day and just looking for things to wreck or take apart. There were photos sticking out of our air purifier, junk mail shredded all over the floor, and he had started to disassemble an expensive motorcycle part that was packed in bubble wrap and just sitting in the middle of a room, waiting for toddler hands to destroy it.
Meanwhile, all day long I had been urging him to poop on the toilet so he could have a chocolate treat. Since Halloween has been opting for “CANDY!” but most often he prefers “chocka pooding!”
I told him that if he needs to go, he just has to yell “I need to go potty!” like his Friend Daniel did when he was staying at our house. I figured a good role model would help. So after the whole day went by and he hadn’t pooped at all, the moment we got packed up and left the house to go for a walk – Mommy, Daddy, Brady, and Kyle – what happens? “I need to go potty!”
So we tried. Nothing. “It’s walking time,” he said. So we walked…about halfway down the block.
“I need to go potty!” We hurried back to the house and Daddy took Kyle in this time because let’s be honest, it was really me who needed the break. I walked up and down the block with Brady until Kyle came bursting out the front door.
“IT’S CHOCKA POODING TIME!” he cried, voice booming throughout the neighborhood.
I clapped and said “Oh yeah? Why is it chocolate pudding time, Kyle?”
“BECAUSE I POOPED ON THE TOE-LET!!!!”
Anyone wondering where the potty training is happening? Yeah. It’s at my house.

OMG that is the cutest story! I can totally picture him saying “It’s Choka Pudding time!”.
Oh God, I needed that laugh right now!
Can I send Luke over? He fights me every time I ask him to try sitting on the potty.
Haha, that is AWESOME! 🙂 Can’t wait for the Hallowe’en pics and Brady learning to sit up – that’s very exciting!
That is funny.
