I didn’t check my email for three whole days. I felt itchy and I broke out in a cold sweat. Once I finally sat down at a computer, I breathed a sigh of an addict’s relief.
On Thursday morning I set out for Connecticut with my little boys for a two-week visit with the family back east. Our patron saint of travel, Aunt “Kaffy,” met us at the airport from a business trip in Colorado to accompany us. We connected in Dallas and landed in Hartford at 11:30 PM Eastern Time.
Kyle was a good boy on both flights. He had his own seat and I used a special portable 5-point harness instead of a carseat for him. Brady was a lap child, but he was not happy in anybody’s lap, which, needless to say, made the whole day pretty tough. It was like trying to get a kitten to sit still for seven hours. The layover in Dallas was a welcome break.
I can only use the computer when Kyle is awake, because he’s sleeping in my dad’s office on a special blow-up mattress with a Cars sleeping bag attached to it. It doesn’t stay inflated very well, so last night he basically slept on the floor, so we’ll have to do something about that. But it’s a good trial run for moving him into a big-boy bed at home. I love having him in his cage, I mean his crib, but it’s probably time.
There are a lot of things I want to get going on once we get back to California – healthy eating, more exercise, better organization, etc. I feel like my New Year won’t start until then. In the meantime, I will try to enjoy visiting with family and friends here, and focus on my most important job: mother. I have no other obligations while I’m here, so hopefully it will be easy. Wish me luck.

Have fun!
Have a great visit and try to sneak onto that computer once in awhile so we don’t miss you too much!
