The nap thing has been better. Yesterday Kyle slept three times, with decreasing length, but at least he had three naps. I felt great. I was cheerful, so was the baby. We had guests for dinner, and everyone had a great time.

Today is a different story, and I am in despair. After an hour and a half of tired-but-wide-awake-and-crying baby, I actually left Kyle screaming in the other room and closed all the doors between us so I could not hear him. Am I a bad mother? I feel like he will hate me for the rest of his life and become a juvenile deliquent because I am abandoning him. I am simply exhausted and disappointed in myself and I don’t want to take it out on him. So I came to my computer to look at cute pictures of him smiling, have a snack, and muster up the energy to go out there and soothe him. AGAIN.

No, you aren’t a bad mother! Sometimes the best thing to do is walk away. When is it “they” say this will get better???

No, you are not a bad mama… we have all done this at some point… anyone who tells you they have not is lying!!! Motherhood, wonderful as it is, is also exhausting and demanding. I doubt he will hate you forever and end up a mass murderer all due to your needing a few minutes to re-group your mommy self!!!

Such is the life! I often (unfortunately) have to take a breather from my 5 month old. I rarely had to with my daughter (I won’t say never!)
You are NOT a bad mommy! Taking a few minutes to regroup is the best thing you can do for both of you.
Besides, isn’t screaming good for their lungs? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think you would be a bad mother if you brought him to the local Greyhound station and then shut all tthe doors between the two of you. I think you have to take care of yourself or you won’t have ANYTHING to give to Kyle.
    Hope to see you soon.

Definatley not a bad mother. Your baby will not hate you and become a juvenile deliquent. Actually most moms will agree that you did the right thing. He needs to learn how to go to sleep. He needs to sleep to grow. He needs to sleep to have a happy mama ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m sure you wouldn’t leave him there for hours on end screaming his poor little head off to the poing of hyperventilation! You were just giving yourself a time out and trying to show him that you mean buisness. Also remember this time will pass. And best of luck to you!

Aunt Katie’s right … and Kyle obviously thinks you’re amazing as well, because he wants your company ALL THE TIME. He’s like a jealous boyfriend. How did today go? It’s normal to have these “off” days where your brilliant progress gets shucked out the window. Just keep doing what you’ve been doing!
