After almost 5 months of going back and forth with Samsung, we have declared our video camera officially broken. They are sending me a partial refund, with which I will buy a new camera.
What do you recommend?
I’d like a smallish mini-DV camera (that I can throw in the diaper bag) that has a wider than usual view and the option to take videos and stills that you can save on a memory card and upload. Price range: $450.

We love our JVC-450 something or other. We had the black screen of death issue shortly after buying it (which plagues all digital camcorders because of a defective Sony part), but since it was still under warranty had it fixed for free and relatively quickly. The downside was that we had to buy a special cable to connect it to the computer, but it does have a memory card for stills.
I have no recommendations, but when you do get one will you share with the rest of us? We’ll be buying one soon too. By the way, how do you feel?
