During our January-February stay in CT, all I had to do was think about taking care of my children and visiting with family and friends. I sat down on that first Sunday with a list and the phone and I called everyone I wanted to see and made dates with them. It wasn’t my intention, but two weeks goes by pretty quickly that way.
I wouldn’t have the stamina to keep up that kind of social schedule and conduct my normal life. On most of those days I had a morning outing with the kids, naptime blocked out in the afternoon, and somebody to go visit or to come visit us after naps and into the early evening. After the kids went to bed I escaped and hung out with my girlfriends.
This kind of thing would not work here in Los Angeles, because my girlfriends are all at least 20 minutes drive away. In West Haven, it took me 3 minutes to go anywhere. Ah, small town life.
I would get home late, and Brady got into the habit of waking several times during the night to fuss over his pacifier, so I didn’t often sleep that well. Then he would wake at 6am to nurse and fall asleep with me. Thus, we would sleep in until 8 while Grampa hung out downstairs with Kyle. It was a sure way to kill a morning, but it was lazy fun.
