Dear Mean Lady Who Was Speeding Through the Parking Lot and Because I Was Backing Out of My Space (Even Thought I Was Going Very Slowly and You Were Speeding) Our Insurance Companies are Putting All of the Liability on Me:
Did you get some email from the Universe that told you my family is on a budget and driving two 10-year-old cars that are barely worth fixing anyway? So it was your day to drive without caution and smack your fancy SUV into my little old plastic car?
You charged out of your car, all accusatory and angry, without a thought to my personal safety. When someone plows into a vehicle, a good person’s response is “OMG are you okay?” But with me, you were just angry that this happened, and told me it was my fault, when it was clear to both of us that it was yours.
And now here I am, a mother on a budget, who was working a freelance job to make a little extra to help us get by, and my insurance is going to a) not cover the damages to my car and b) most likely increase. And you, a fancy woman with a luxury SUV and very expensive looking plastic surgery, get to have it all taken care of because of your lie. I hope there is a charitable side to you that inspires you to take the money you would be spending on the insurance increase that in a just world would be YOURS, and donate it to a shelter or better yet a diaper donation drive.
Fuck you.
The end.
Well that’s crappy.
That totally sucks. Well, there’s always Karma – it will catch up with her.

And why on earth is this YOUR fault? That’s so unfair!
Ugh, that suck! But, if it’s any consolation, the term “little old plastic car” cracked me up.

I just thought – any chance you can challenge your insurance company on this? I mean, if she lied about her speeding, you should be able to at least put up a fight and have it on record.

I don’t know Anne, that is a good suggestion. I will try.
That see you next Tuesday! I bet I’ll see that bitch on Botched after her next botox debacle.
I had a similar parking-lot-collision experience years ago, except it was the person backing out of the space who hit us…twice. And then she drove away, so we got stuck with the bill. I’m sorry you got stuck with this! Glad you’re OK, though, even if the car’s not.

Ooh, this makes me so mad on your behalf! I had a similar thing happen in a parking lot except my kids were in the car and the other person was screaming obscenities at me and taught my toddler some new words. This too shall pass. And your insurance rates will probably not go up since there were no injuries. Things will feel better tomorrow.

Stinks. I hate it when people don’t take responsibility. I do NOT miss the way people drive in the Conejo Valley. I was over there the other day and suddenly remembered how awful it is. I had people swerve to try to scare me when I was walking. I had people who thought nothing of driving 3 feet from my bumper at 45 mph. People are crazy over there.

I’m so sorry you had to finish any letter with Fuck you, the end.
And I hope to hear that your challenge to insurance yields better results.
Seriously.
Do it.

Sorry to hear your troubles. I have had a bad experience with an inconsiderate driver too. You can read it in my post. It is unacceptable to speed in places like car parks. I don’t even want to think about what would happen if it was a little child stepped in front of that SUV. You should have point this out. At least the fault should have been shared. The other driver has to watch out and be able to stop in a split second noticing a car (or a child) coming between cars. You would think that insurance companies would have seen the fault of the other driver. However, sometimes you need to fight your corners and make a good case for yourself to avoid being blamed for everything.
