There is a brand of beverage that makes it safe to drink soda again. I’ve had a lifelong relationship with soda. My current lover is Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi. I started out young with Pepsi itself, but that is way too much sugar for my adult palate.
I absolutely forbid my children from drinking soda in any form. Because of that, they really want it, and at birthday parties or when Grampa comes to town, you can bet they’ll try to sneak it in. I’ve been considering letting them have some every now and then, just to ward off the certain rebellion I will foster in them by denying them this forbidden fruit.
Along comes Steaz, whose Steaz iced teas have made the blogger swag bag circuit – I enjoyed my sample that I received at SITScation, and I recently got a sample kit in the mail as well. Last week I attended a brunch hosted by the company at a wonderful organic, non-toxic, fair trade restaurant in Culver City called Akasha. Eric Schnell, who founded Steaz, told us about his company’s mission and invited us to try more samples of their zero-calorie sparking green tea.
There’s nothing tea-ish about it. It’s soda. Healthy soda! Made with all natural ingredients and sweeteners, I’m totally in. I can drink one of those babies in about 2 seconds. I saved the non-zero-calorie sparkling lovely for the kids, and I won’t feel bad about letting them have one every now and then. You know, so they won’t run off and chug a case of Dr. Pepper the moment I turn my back.
On top of that, they now have a charity branch that gives money to women who are trying to change the world a little bit at a time. I don’t know anyone like that, do you?

Testing the new comments. Whee!
When my kids were little my wife and I absolutely refused to let them drink soda at home or anywhere else (much to their dismay). We had them drink Syfo — they make seltzer and naturally-flavored sparkling waters which are delicious. They have no sugar, sodium, preservatives or artificial sweeteners, none of that bad stuff. My kids loved it, and we all still drink it today — 15 years later! They are distributed mainly in the Southeast, but I think you can order online at http://www.syfobeverages.com.
I’ve seen these drinks and have been totally intrigued. I’ll have to try some now.
And love the new banner, btw.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times
it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance.
I must say you have done a fantastic job with this. In addition, the blog loads very quick for me on Opera.
Exceptional Blog!
