I have a copy of the program for Lisa’s funeral tacked to the bulletin board in our kitchen/dining area. A version of this photo is on the cover:
I touch it every time I walk by, much like the Irish football players jump up and touch the “Play Like a Champion Today” sign on their way out to the tunnel at Notre Dame Stadium.
I miss her.
She would want you to know that this photo was taken before her life-changing fitness obsession kicked in.

I think about you both a lot! Great post!
Sigh. I think about you guys a lot, too. And she’d probably kick you for posting that picture! Haha!
Hugs Kim… there will always be reminders. And love the photo disclaimer 🙂
Drats. The God Blesses we say each night are now full of loved ones living with Lisa and God in heaven. Grandma joined them a week ago. Its tough.
And I have to say when I see photos from that day, (sigh), “That was when I was still skinny….the week before Jackson was conceived.”
I miss her so much & think about her all the time! So many things remind me of her!
Boy, did she love her ND football! How fitting that you tied the two things together in this post!
Love,
Stacie
When my uncle passed away I made a small shadowbox memorial as a reminder to myself to deal with my grief and not push it aside. I’m really good at pushing difficult feelings aside. I commend you on talking about your grief and I commend you for sharing your grief with us.
I love the way you love your friends. This nearly made me cry.
I have a photo of a friend from the mass card at her funeral that I keep in my wallet so I feel this, too.
I just googled the phrase “Play Like A Champion” because I want to get one for our house and this post came up first in my results. It made me tear up and yet it warmed my heart at the same time. Love you, girl. xo
Mama Mary recently posted…the annual holiday card countdown has begun
