I have this friend. Her name is S@L (http://suburbs.blogdrive.com/) and she lives on the east coast and has a daughter the same age as Kyle. She and I have so many things in common that it gives us chills. I met her through this blog about 2 years ago when we were both pregnant and given to buying the exact same baby supplies.
I got to see her and meet her little girl when Kyle and I went back to CT last week. We picked an unlikely playdate location: Old Sturbridge Village, MA. It’s a tourist attraction type of place – a functional 17th century village. It was also the coldest day in recent memory, and the place was lying under a fresh inch of snow.
Luckily the Village has an indoor kids’ play area. It’s actually a pretty good place for a playdate on a cold, snowy day. Nobody was there but us and a few random stragglers, so we were loose in the kids’ area for at least 2 hours. It was a large room filled with wooden and cloth toys and things that were meant to teach kids what it was like in the old days – like a life-size model of a pig nursing her piglets and a model cow that you can pretend to milk.
It wasn’t my first time meeting S@L but it was the first time we brought the kids. Kyle and Zoe played well together and enjoyed climbing up and down the stairs, which, in a roomful of cool toys, are always the coolest toy. At one point Kyle wandered away and I followed him into the clock gallery – where every extremely cool grandfather clock ever made was on display. For a kid who is learning to talk, this was great fun. “Clock! Clock! Clock!” was fun to say, and he was very proud that he could say it. He was like the kid in the classroom who is so excited that he knows the answer.
These pictures represent the PARALLEL lives of KHOP (me – that’s what she calls me) and S@L. Since I didn’t get permission from her to use her likeness, I’m using her daughter, because I have definitely seen pictures of her daughter on her blog. I don’t know if this website can handle this much cuteness. It might crash. Beware.
And here is a picture of my belly. I can actually BALANCE beverages on it now.

No pics. Drat!!!
I want to see that belly.
I can’t see pics either, but am so excited to see them (even though I’ve already seen them.) You can use my likeness if you want. ๐ Hey thanks for blogging about our playdate. My favorite part was how we tried to have a conversation in a booth at Friendlys with 2 21-month olds literally climbing all over us. Come back soon! Or maybe I’ll come there, who knows…
Also, how is it possible that you are pregnant AND skinny at the same time? One word for you: rude. ๐
I can’t see them. Boo! I bet they’re super cute, too.
*kicks dirt*
I can’t seem ’em either…and couldn’t yesterday.
Stupid blogger. Denying us all the ability to procrastinate and ooh and aah over your photos!
You are so cute!!! I agree with S@L, rude and not fair!
Kim
