In the latest of my questionable parenting choices, I have consented to letting my children watch The Simpsons – but only when they are accompanied by an adult. It’s full of unkind language and adult humor that they wouldn’t understand. I mean, if they watch The Simpsons alone at ages 8 and 10, how would they ever see the humor in a Simpsons reference to An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge?
After a few months of watching the gazillion episodes from all time, Kyle declared “The old ones are better,” and created this masterpiece, that I have been instructed to mail to Mr. Matt Groening himself:

Jack will be 18 on the 22nd so if you’re looking for an adult to watch The Simpsons with your kids….
🙂
Even I’m not allowed to watch The Simpsons yet. LOL
My son was raised on The Simpsons, and he’s managed to become a contributing member of society :-D. My stepkids grew up with them. To my sister’s chagrin, my nephews love them. And for the record, Kyle is absolutely right–they may not look as good, but in every way that matters, the old ones ARE better.

He’s totally right, the old ones are better. I cannot believe some of the crude adult humor that peppers the newer episodes. Like Homer joking about having a 3-way with Marge and I don’t remember who, but WTF? Or maybe I’m just 80 years old now, longing for the good old days. But, yes, it’s fun to point out the many cultural references.
