I hate it when our kids sleep in our bed with us. At least one night in seven sees one of them padding into our bedroom in the wee small hours of the morning. We’re too tired to argue, so we let him in. Inevitably, he steals all the covers, or grows extra elbows and pointy feet and pokes me repeatedly, or crowds Stewart to the very edge of the bed so that he just gives up and goes to sleep on the couch. I’ll wake up to find a child in his place.
Having said all that, just this morning I woke up to Brady’s golden hair, his soft breathing, his even softer skin. I had forgotten that he was there. I put my arm around him, snuggled him closer, put the covers back on Stewart, and went back to sleep.

not to mention, in too few years, that’s done & gone. enjoy while you can. i’d love to snuggle my boys again. (at least i have a granddaughter to cuddle now.)
More nights than not our daughter sleeps with us. For over 6 years now. I know. The cover stealing, the knees, the feet, the crowding… it is all worth those sweet snuggles that I know all too well are quickly slipping away…
Whew, I won’t worry that Dominick takes a very early morning nap in Mommy’s bed.
My baby is 7 🙁 Sometimes I miss that stage of co-sleeping.
