I may not be the BlogHer of the Week (ever), or get the Perfect Post Award, or any number of the Fluffiest Blog on the ‘Net awards that eternally circulate and never land here. But I am getting a free trip to Hawaii.
It’s not swag, or free stuff given to me so that I’ll blog about it and tell my tens of fans, or a fancy wine and dine experience with piles of technology dropped in my lap (although none of those things are bad, don’t get me wrong). It’s a media trip hosted by Hawaii itself. I’ll travel there and look and eat and walk and talk and run and drive and click and snap and feel and smell and taste, and I will tell people about this experience on my blog, yes, but I’ll be writing about it as a writer. the paperwork I am reading refers to me as a journalist. It seems as though I was chosen for this (amazing) task because of my writing and my outlets, and if the barcode actually scans when I try to board the plane on Thursday, I might actually believe that this is happening.
I can’t wait.

Have fun – can’t wait to hear all about it!
I’m sure your trip will not compare to our little vacation in Myrtle Beach! Have a wonderful experience! I will eagerly await the details! Oh, could you please get me a pencil????
Mom
WOW!!! That is awesome!! Have fun.
Kim: It’s really happening, going alone or with the family? You’ll love Hawaii, safe trip.
Love you Nana & Grandpa
Aloha!
I did get the perfect post award once, (Hmm, who was it that nominated me for that???) and that was a very cool thing; but a trip to Hawaii is a very very very cool thing. Have fun!
Now that is so FUN! Good for you. Enjoy the trip.
It’s call a Fam Trip–or a Journalists’ Junket. I got one to Guatemala once. Had fun. Climbed pyramids. Flew in the cockpit of a DC10. Rode on the roof of a colonial train. Saw little soldiers with big guns. People living in shacks by the railroad tracks. Children begging. I went for Playgirl magazine, so I didn’t write about any of that…as you can imagine.
I’ve loved reading about Hawaii and can’t wait to read more! You rock! Next time can I come too?
And if the Perfect Post Awards still existed, I would definitely bestow one upon you for your fab writing!
