The last 2 months have flown by in a blur of pain, snot, and cat poo. All I can really do when I think about that time as a whole is take a nap. I’m happy I’m still in one piece, still relatively sane, and still surrounded by people who love me.
Some of my adventures have been described on this website previously, and you all knew I was leaving town, but let me sum up anyway. On November 5, while sneezing, I hurt my back so badly that I couldn’t really walk for a week. When that problem cleared up, I developed bronchitis. Once that started to go away, my dear parents came to stay with us. As soon as they left, I flew to Washington D.C., not to return to my house until December 27, without my luggage.
Now I am home with all of my luggage returned to me intact. I take my life for granted sometimes, I admit, but this is one of those happy times when I didn’t mind unpacking and appreciating my house, where things belong in their places, and there’s enough room for everything, even if it seems like Stewart and I have accumulated much too much crap for 2 human beings, a dog, and a cat.
Speaking of too much crap, we 2 human beings now own a total of FIVE cars. This is because my wonderful husband surprised me with a new car as a Christmas gift – one good thing about being away from home, Stewart could sneak around and buy me things. It’s a fabulous new Mitsubishi Galant – otherwise known as my Mom Car. It comes equipped with child seat fasteners and safety locks and plenty of room in the trunk for the stroller, diaper bag, etc. Plus, it’s an automatic, and after driving a manual shift car for the last 8 years in Los Angeles, this new car feels like a dream to me. The only downside to the new car is the hassle of selling the old car, which is temporarily parked in our friend Marshall’s driveway, since he’s visiting his girlfriend in Columbia and won’t notice.
So anyway. Here I am, at home, with all my stuff, my new car, my husband, my animals, and a full tummy. We have food in the house, clean underwear for the week, the bills are paid, and the housekeeper comes tomorrow. All is well and caught up, and I am ready for the next round. This next round, if all goes as planned, will be my last, because after this job for HGTV is finished I am hoping to not work again indefinitely. But if you are reading this and thinking of hiring me for something, please still call me because I can be bought for a small fee.
