Birthday Cake For Dinner, Part 2

October 6, 2009 Kim Tracy Prince 5 Comments

As many of you now know, we spent my birthday at Disneyland, which turned out to be an awesome day, for the following reasons:

-It was the kids’ first time there, and we enjoyed watching their reactions to everything
-I got a birthday button, so lots of people wished me “happy birthday” throughout the day
-They have a policy there in which you are allowed to leave the ride line to go pee, then come back and get on the next ride. This was very helpful on our last ride of the day, and Kyle announced he had to pee right when we made it to the front of the line.
–It’s the perfect time of year to go. No super long lines (well, except for the ones we skipped), not too hot, less crowds.
-Having a special trip planned on my birthday meant that nobody was going to forget that it was my birthday.

That last item is my point. Disneyland/Wife’s/Mommy’s birthday was all wrapped up in one, and I must give it to Stewart that he came through this year. After last year’s debacle, he really didn’t have a choice. Well, I suppose he always had a choice, but the alternative would be one very unhappy wife.

The day started perfectly, with flowers and presents waiting for me in the kitchen. The kids exclaimed “Happy Birthday!” when I got out of bed and they were excited to see me open my gifts: a novel, a yoga DVD, and window jellies (that last one was chosen by Brady). There was also a card with pictures of planets, of course.

They picked out a cake, too, but since we didn’t get home from Disneyland until late that night, we saved the cake for the next day. I got home from work late, and they had already finished dinner, so I sat down to a nice big slice of birthday cake for my own dinner.

And it was good.

I want to thank everyone who called, wrote, texted, DM’ed, @-ed, or made or sent a gift. I know I make it very clear to the world that My Birthday Is Important To Me, and that can get pretty obnoxious. I don’t regret it, however, even if I’m that much closer to 40.

Yeah for a wonderful birthday celebration! We go to DisneyWorld in September for many of the same reasons… fewer crowds, lower hotel rates… as for cooler temps, well still frickin’ hot but that’s okay when it comes time for the pool!
