Halloweekend

November 5, 2005 Kim Tracy Prince 18 Comments

Kyle’s grandparents, my parents, have come and gone, and what a great time we all had. Kyle and I were recovering from our colds, but we turned a corner with all the TLC we got from Friday night to Wednesday night. I don’t have the stamina to write a long and florid description of those five days, because Notre Dame nearly missed losing to Tennessee today, and it took a lot out of me. So here are the highlights:

-fresh cinnamon rolls and a late night for Kyle when Gramma and Grampa arrived to see their giant grandson.
-grandparents babysat while Stew and I shopped for a mini-SUV to replace his Ford Ranger. Instead, we will probably get the 2005 Honda Element.
-The debut of the Snugli backpack carrier. Man, I wish I could ride in one!

-Halloween party with the Mommy Mafia, where this mommy had 2 beers (!) and we got our picture taken by a professional.
-chillin’ at Venice Beach. Kyle sat in a restaurant high chair and ate mashed bananas. Yes, my strap is down because I had just nursed him.

-Grandparents took Kyle to the zoo (pictures in post below) for many, many hours while I stayed home alone and did the bills and laundry and rested. Sweet, sweet silence!
-Grampa hung out with Kyle while my mom and I spent 3 hours at Ikea and an hour (only!) at a quilt shop. Sweet, sweet shopping!
-Gramma made the following meals while here: turkey ham with steamed broccoli and rice, roasted turkey with baked potatoes and green beans, homemade chicken noodle soup.
-Kyle’s second ever trip to IHOP where he sat in a restaurant high chair again and tasted his first applesauce. He went totally crazy over it. I really wish I had pictures of that. I ate the stuffed French Toast combo with scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. The stuffed French toast is a wedge of cinnamon raisin bread with cream cheese filling, deep fried and topped with peaches and whipped cream. I ate it ALL.
-A quick stop to Target to purchase six new sleepers for Kyle, who has grown out of most of his previous sleepers, and now that it’s getting chilly he really needed new ones.

Ah, what a week! Kyle and I worked on Thursday and part of Friday, and spent Friday afternoon in the park with some other moms and babies. Now life returns to normal. Until Uncle Fireman Kevin gets here Wednesday night!

Dude, are you a quilter, too? I’ve been quilting since the fourth grade and always have at least 5 projects going at the same time.
And I LOVE IHOP stuffed French Toast! It’s my fave.
And I nurse in public too! I think you are my new bosom buddy! Ha, I am so funny.

Oh, yeah – half our furniture is from IKEA, too. There’s one 5 minutes from my house. Breakfast for $1.04! Rock on!
