I have a new rule: Mama must be fully dressed in street clothes before sitting down at the computer in the morning. That way, if there’s a fire, which is very likely since I keep burning stuff, and I have to grab the baby and run outside, I won’t be there in the street in my pajamas with sleep in my eyes at 2pm.
Yesterday I had a blind date with a fellow blogger. I say this is the first time I have met a blogger in person, but as a friend pointed out yesterday, I know other bloggers – Tina, Katie, Amy, Cam, Kevin…but they are all people I knew before I or they started blogging. So they don’t count in this story.
This blogger is a fellow mommy blogger who happens to have a very similar story to me so I was really excited to meet her. We made plans to meet at a Coffee Bean with our babies. Then after we made the plans, I got nervous. What if she didn’t think I was as cool as I am in my blog? (For here, in my blog, I am the epitome of cool. The blog, once meant as a showcase for my baby on display for my family and friends, has quickly turned into my alternate existence. Those who come here looking for pictures of Kyle are also treated to this, my stream of consciousness. The pound of flesh, one might say, for such cuteness.)
As I drove down to the coffee shop, my insecurities attacked even further. What if she’s mean, or bored with me, or thinks my baby is too messy? (He was, in fact, covered in a thin sheen of dried snot.) I didn’t have to worry, because she was very nice, and her baby liked me because I kept feeding her Ralph’s Toasted O’s. In my typical fashion, I talked too much and like an idiot because I was nervous, but she made me feel better saying she was desperate for friends, so I guess she set the bar pretty low. Hopefully, even I passed muster.
It was really, really cool to talk to someone who likes to blog as much as I do. We actually spoke the same language and I didn’t have to explain it all to her in order to tell her a blog-related fact or story. Because this is such a small world, it turns out that she’s in the same industry as me and has the same struggles with going back to work. She’s a lot more successful, so it’s nice to know that someone like her feels the same way I do sometimes.

That is the cutest picture ever! I’m glad you had fun with your new friend. I’d love to meet a fellow blogger in person one day, too.

Awwww…I had fun meeting you too! And you are just as cool in person if not cooler. It was my first meeting with a fellow blogger too. Looking back on it, maybe I should’ve worn a little make-up and possibly at least jeans over my normal sweats but…well you know how it is. And that’s why I like you!

If any of KTP’s readers would like to see pictures of her as a kid, come visit my website…
