Around this time every year I get sick. Really, really sick. It starts with a cold in my head and travels south to my chest and turns into bronchitis.
It started Sunday afternoon. I took Brady to a birthday party, kissed hello all around, and as I left the party I felt The Sick descend upon me like a fog. By last night I was so sick that I sent Stewart to our Monday play group with Kyle, surely inciting fear among those who kissed me hello the day before.
I just called my doctor’s office and spoke with the sweet, sweet dispenser of medicines who never makes me come in to the office to cough up my proof of disease. All I have to do is go to the drive-through pharmacy and pick up my antibiotics and I should be as good as new in a few days. I hope so, because I don’t want to miss any more holiday parties, and I have miles to go before I sleep.
P.S. I left out a few links in the post below. Jane and Liz, I didn’t forget you. I just got sick.

Such depressing literary references… you must not be well!
Tsk tsk tsk. As a pharmacologist (not to be confused with a pharmacist!) I have to say… md’s who give out prescriptions for antibiotics willy nilly are contributing to the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
As a friend, though, all I’ll say is that I hope you get better soon!
Chicken soup. Preferably homemade. Hope some friendly person out there will make you some…
Another positive of being a single mom with a cooperative (okay, great) dad: When The Sick decended on me a week ago Friday, and I had no voice by Friday night, Jackson called his daddy on speaker phone first thing Saturday AM to tell daddy he was awake, and mommy’s voice was broken, and he was playing cars, and watching movies, and ate a poptart….daddy replied, “I’ll be right there.” and within 15 minutes, I was alone, in my pjs, on my couch, sipping tea, and beginning my 8 hour HGTV marathon. He came home Sunday night in time for bed.
Hope you feel well soon.
Suz
p.s. I did text my MD sister-in-law-to-be and asked if an RX would do me any good, and sadly she said no.
