I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there’s an advertisement appearing on my left sidebar now.
(Pausing for the collective gasp.)
It may seem odd, if you’ve been playing along at home, for me to have ads appearing here considering my public disdain for the practice.* I said I’d never do it, that it would make blogging a job and something I would feel obligated to do.
I’ve also said that I can be bought. I also say now, to myself, that I feel obligated to blog. I even accepted a job as a featured writer for a new social networking venture whose permanent link will soon appear on this site as well. I’m excited about that but I’ll tell you more about it when they work the kinks out.
All of those things have nothing to do with why I put the BlogHer Ad Network on the left here. Take a look. See the big fancy colorful ad? Look below it, where it says “More from Blogher.” Under that you will see headlines of current posts that are featured on random blogs from within the network. Click on the title and you will be taken to that blog.
Eventually you will see one of my titles there. So basically, Blogher is paying ME for the chance to promote my own website. (And the payment is something like 10 bucks a month. It’s not like I get that many hits.)
So go ahead and hate me if you think I have pulled a Mit Romney on you.** But you have to admit, it’s not quite the same thing.
*I still read her site regularly, but I am over it.
**Oh! She just threw in a current political joke! She’s SO savvy! BAM!

Try not to spend the $10 all in one place 😉
I kinda think it’s cool you have a Blogher ad on your site….I feel so little and unknown I don’t think I’ll ever be cool enough for something like that! Wait, is that the wrong opinion to have!?!?
I say never feel guilty for becoming a corporate whore. They just sent me a buttload of Johnson & Johnson baby oils, creams, lotions, et al. And now I’ve got to blog about it…
But pride has been gone for a while and so I will do it.
Hello!
I am contacting you because I am working with the authors of a book about blogs, and I’d like to request permission to use a photograph of yours in this book. Please contact me at ha****@********ne.org and I’d be happy to give you more information about the project. In the meantime, please visit our website at wefeelfine.org to get an idea of what we are all about. Also, if you would please paste a link to your blog in the subject field of your response it will be a huge help. Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Hannah
