Speaking of Cheese…

June 12, 2007 Kim Tracy Prince 3 Comments

Brady totally smells like cheese. Not like string cheese, that you can just eat. More like some kind of tart spreadable cheese, that must be enjoyed with a good red wine. It worries me. Luckily, we are going to the doctor tomorrow, where I am sure she will tell me that I should just bathe him. That might help.

I just spent an hour reading blogs. I exhausted my blogroll, my bookmarks, and all of the blogs of the bloggers I met at the LA Blogger party (TIM! THANKS TO TIM! WHO IS HAVING ANOTHER GIRL THIS YEAR!) and then I actually blind-clicked a link and read a new blog. I was just procrastinating because I am uncomfortably hot and sweaty and my house is a disaster and both kids are sleeping and my husband is out so I should just pick up the house but seriously, who wants to do that when you can do anything else? But I don’t feel like doing anything else so I sat down to blog and felt like I had no post in me so I went in search of inspiration.

Here’s what I found: two of my favorite blogs are going out of business. Two of my favorite bloggers are pulling out of the game. Both have been part of my blog community since I started reading blogs and writing this one in 2004. I am so sad about it that I told one of them that it feels like she is breaking up with me. Because it’s all about me, of course.

I can’t say that I relate to their feelings of not wanting to blog because I don’t think I’ll ever feel that way. Then again, when we got our pets I didn’t think I would ever not want to have them around. Feelings and priorities change all the time, and I respect these women for announcing their blogs’ end instead of just stopping and leaving all of their readers hanging and wondering what happened to them. So I raise a toast (of caffeine free diet pepsi, because getting the baby drunk every night is just getting old) to Ann and Lisa, two of my favorite bloggers who helped keep me afloat when I was a new crazy mom (and even now that I am an old crazy mom). May your witty writing and artful photography continue in private for your own gratification. But I know you’ll miss my comments.

They’re quitters. That’s all there is to it. I’m talking about the people that just flat out hang up blogging. These are the same people who find text message breakups acceptable. The least they could do is be sporadic and inconclusive with their writings. Now those are the real bloggers.

Kevin – I’m not a quitter, it’s just that my priorities have changed, my life is crazier, and I have some concerns about lack of anonymity on the internet.
KTP – Thank you so much for your very kind comments, here and on my blog. I know. I’m sorry. It is just what I feel deep in my heart is best for me and my family right now. I have tears in my eyes right now, because what you said about me, I feel also about you. I’ll never forget all your kind and supportive comments when my sweet girl was in the hospital sick a year + ago. I’ll still stop by your place and check in. E-mail me any time. If you don’t have my e-mail, let me know and I’ll get it to you.
