I shared this with my work group last week because it’s been running through my head non-stop. Most of my colleagues are much younger, so I suspect they’ve never been treated to JCM like this:
I was shocked to see that this song debuted in 1992. (It should be noted that the only person who reacted to the share was the other Gen X-er in my group.)
How sad that nothing has changed and everything has changed.
The school where I work has a dispute resolution institute, where students can learn and train in conflict resolution of all kinds, especially outside of litigation. Mediation, arbitration, negotiation, etc. From family disputes to international conflict. Big heavy stuff. I’ve taken our messaging to heart, and the campaign for our summer training program is “Now More than Ever…” because it’s true. Now more than ever, the world needs smart, kind people to resolve differences. Thinking about the big effects on people and the world is enough to break my heart, but if I can do one tiny thing in the form of spreading the news about our programs and getting more people to train to help in a big way, I will.
Who am I to say
What needs to be done
I am just nobody
Another lost one
Caught between what’s left
And what needs to be doneNow more than ever
The world needs love
Not just a slogan
But the world needs love
Now more than ever
I can’t stand alone
Now more than ever

Oof these lyrics.
Thanks for sharing, KTP.
I miss you.
Gen X rules. And so do you, Kim. Thanks for sharing. And now this song is stuck in my head too. (In a good way.)
