Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.
From the poem “Resumé” by Dorothy Parker, as quoted in You Might as Well Live: The Life and Times of Dorothy Parker, by John Keats, 1970.
