Here’s another one about ads on blogs. I’m sure you didn’t care that I added BlogHer ads to my sidebar. At least, you haven’t complained yet. And some of you may have actually come here because of the BlogHer Ads headline rotation, which is awesome and the whole reason I signed up. It’s like they’re paying me to advertise my blog on other people’s blogs! Also, I’ve found new blogs to read (and be jealous of) this way.
Since there’s no outcry so far, I stuck a new widget on the sidebar to your left. It’s for Savvysource, the site that pays me to write about what I know: stuff to do with your kids. I love the site, the community of writers involved, and our editor. It’s a lot of work and it keeps me up late and night and it causes me to wander aimlessly through the Web, but I’ve learned a lot and come face to face with new people and opportunities.
Thanks again for the pimping, Y!
There is another one coming for Parentricity, the social networking site for parents that pays me to write about whatever I choose, as long as it has something to do with parenting. Oh, the many many things I can choose from…
Thanks again for the pimping, Whit!
So anyway. Would you please clicky click on the widget and take the quiz? I’d really really appreciate it.
Putting ads on your site is not selling out. Putting ads on your site for a product you don’t approve of, now that would be selling out. I keep an eye on what BlogHer serves to my blog, so I can opt out of offending (to me) campaigns. I didn’t follow your referral to the SavvySource widget placement, because I don’t like Leapfrog’s products (add that to the long list of producers whose products I don’t like).
Point being, as long as you’re true to yourself, there ain’t nothing wrong with getting a check every month.
